Who:

Any interested swimmers age 4 to 18 as of June 1, 2008. Swimmers should be able to swim independently, at least the width of the pool.

First-time-swimmers:

You must bring a certified copy of the swimmer’s birth certificate for age verification and a photocopy of the birth certificate for us to keep.

Time:

Registration is Saturday, March 8, 2008, 9:30 A.M. to 12:20 A.M. at Churchill Commons Clubhouse, 2775 Winthrope Way, Lawrenceville, GA 30044.

Fees include league registration, coaching, insurance and one Tee Shirt per registered swimmer. (Extra Tee shirts can be pre-ordered for $10.00 each.

Late Fee:

A late fee of $10.00 per swimmer will be added for registrations after May 19, 2008. Late registration could result in loss of a spot on the team or at the very least swimmers will be unable to order suits, t-shirts, etc. Please register by March 8 if at all possible.

Coaches:

We are thrilled to have Alex Dalziel and Rachel White returning as coaches this season. Other assistant coaches will be added as necessary.

Swim Suits:

We will be ordering new suits this year. Team suits are not mandatory, but encouraged to help promote team spirit. Orders should be placed at the time of registration for group rates on the cost and to make sure we have them in time for pictures and the first meet. We will have suits available for sizing at registration on March 8th; however, if you can not make it to registration, suits may be tried on and ordered at Kastaway Swimwear (inside Swim Atlanta, at Sugarloaf and Old Norcross) (Suit Preview).

Meet Schedule:

The exact meet schedule has not yet been set. We do know that the County Meet is Friday, July 18th through Sunday, July 20th at Georgia Tech. Meets will most likely begin Thursday, June 5, but may be pushed as early as Thursday, May 29, depending on the number of teams in our division and what will be done the week of July 4. Tthe last meet of the season falls on Tuesday, July 8.

The team party is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 4.

“Volunteer" Jobs:

It takes many, many people to run a swim meet in which 200+ swimmers are participating! Please be aware that you will be assigned 4-6 shifts to work at the swim meets, depending on registration numbers. More explanation will be available at registration or upon request from Colleen or Janice. See the Volunteers section for descriptions of these jobs:

score table - timers - stroke judges - runners - starter - staging - concessions - set up - clean up

We are always in need of stroke judges and another starter or two. Stroke judging requires one training session with an open-book “test” in order to certify. It takes about 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Starter training is another session and is only for stroke judges, so you must certify to be a stroke judge if you want to be a starter. There will be several training sessions available in May. It is a rewarding volunteer job because it allows you to actually watch the entire meet as you work and it educates you about the strokes so you can actually help your child learn them better. Training schedules for these jobs will be available at registration. If you can’t attend registration, please let Colleen or Janice know if you would be willing to do this and we will give you the information you need for certification.

Forms:

Please return three forms at the time of registration – (1) Registration Form, (2) Medical Release Form (must be turned in before any swimmer can participate in practice or meets) and (3) Volunteer Job Request. Swim suit order forms will be handled separately by Julie Franke at registration; or at Kastaway Swimwear, if you cannot register in person.

Mailing Registration:

Mail-in registration will be gladly accepted if you cannot make it to the March 8th registration. We would strongly encourage you to return registration a.s.a.p. so we can get a good count of how many swimmers we will have and be able to meet the coaching and scheduling needs.
