ATTENDANCE POLICIES

Awards:
The morning following most swim meets will be an Awards day. The entire team will meet at 10:30 a.m. for ribbons, donuts and free swim until 12:00 p.m. Please see calendar.
Attendance:
Attendance at all practices is strongly encouraged, however we understand that summer family schedules will not allow swimmers to be at every practice. Please be aware that swimmers missing an excessive number of practices may not be able to swim all the events they desire to swim.

Parents/guardians may stay at the pool while their swimmers are in the pool, but we would ask that you not interfere with the coaching. You may drop your swimmer off during practice, but please return promptly because we cannot be responsible for the swimmers once their session is completed. We also ask that younger siblings not be allowed to play in or near the pool during the practice sessions.

We would like to make you aware that even though Cricket Commons Cyclones is an open membership swim team, the Cricket Hill Swim and Racquet Club is allowing us to use the pool for practices and meets only. After swim team practice the pool is reserved for members of the CSRC association and their guests only. Being on the swim team does not provide access to the pool for free swimming.

In order to keep practices and meets running as smoothly as possible, please bring any problems and concerns that may arise to Colleen Brown or Janice Griffiths. Our coaches have a lot of swimmers to manage, and their attention needs to be with them. We will handle these concerns as quickly as possible.
Absence:
If a swimmer cannot be at a meet or does not wish to participate in a relay, please inform the coaches by filling out an absence form found in gray coach’s box at least four (4) days prior to the meet (e.g. Monday for a Thursday meet, Friday for a Tuesday meet). Additional forms may be found in the coaches gray file folder “mail” box. If your swimmer is assigned an individual event, but doesn’t show up, it has prevented another swimmer from swimming in that lane and if they are assigned a relay and don’t show up, the entire relay team must be scratched. Our coaches have a big job making up the weekly meet rosters and setting up relays, so it is imperative that they know whom to include. Fill out one form per meet and place it in the appropriate meet folder (dated folder in file box) at least four days prior to the meet. In case of illness, please notify one of the coaches, Colleen or Janice as soon as you are sure your swimmer will not be swimming so we can make adjustments to relay teams if necessary.
Requesting Events:
Swimmers may swim in three individual events and two relays at the meet. However, swimmers that are 6 years old and younger generally only swim in two individual events – backstroke and freestyle. The coaches determine which swimmers to place in each event according to ability. Each swimmer will have the opportunity to swim in the short freestyle and backstroke events. However, the number of swimmers in each age group that may compete in the breastroke, butterfly, and individual medley (IM) is determined by the number of lanes at the pool. If a swimmer would like the opportunity to swim a particular stroke in a meet, they may request to do so by filling out a swim request form. Additional forms can be found in the file folder mail boxes. They MUST be filled out and turned in at least four (4) days prior to the meet.
